“ May, more than any other month of the year, wants us to feel most alive.”
Spring takes it’s own sweet time here in Vermont and sometimes it’s a flyover season and we’re right into summer. But when spring finally does appear there is nothing like it. Fresh cool air, giddy rushing streams, and all things brown turn to sweet shades of green!
It’s the time to remove the carpet of winter dirt and grime, hang up the skis and pull down the bikes and get some furniture out on the front porch. There’s nothing like this season of renewal after a long winter of stops and starts.
We’re doing a lot of sprucing up this month and have a few changes in store. There will be a new look and feel downstairs at the store and across the street at the Pitcher Inn. The store bought some of the tables from the iconic Common Man so you can, as Mike Ware would say, dine in Europe without leaving Vermont!
Check out the Pitcher Inn’s Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday May 13th from 10am until 2 pm. The price is $30. per person and will feature, among other things, beet root cured salmon and cultured dill cream and avocado toast with prosciutto and poached egg.
Another event at the Pitcher Inn is on Tuesday May 15th at 6pm when we’ll be hosting a rose wine tasting at Tracks. The cost is $40. per person and tickets are going quickly. We’ll be featuring 5 new rose wines and pairing them up with hearty appetizers and dessert.
Two great events to kick off the spring!
“May – the lilacs are in bloom. Forget yourself!”
And lose yourself Upstairs in a bouquet of spring prints and bright colors! Dresses for weddings, skorts for sports, hoodies for comfortable hanging out! Socks and scarves, new watches from Tokyo Bay and Taki. Our Hobo collection is great for spring and vegan bags from Joy Susan offer a more affordable option. Colorful candles from Vance Kitira and Kapula for summertime entertaining. Still quite a bit of sale clothing for men and women 50-75% off.
We have a few things going on for Mother’s Day this year. Annemarie Furey will be here Saturday with her Product Think Tank sweater line for men and women and we are participating in a promotion by Toad & Co. called SheJumps. For every Toad and Co dress we sell they will give a donation to SheJumps which is an organization that promotes outdoor activities for girls by offering educational opportunities. We will have a representative here Saturday at 1:30 presenting it. You can check it all out at www.shejumps.org.
The vestibule is down and the deck is clear. It’s time for some outdoor eating! I’ve been here for 38 years this month and I never tire of this perch over Kid’s Brook, especially first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. It’s a nice little slice of life!
This month’s “under your nose” feature is the East Warren-Brook Rd-Rte 100 to Bridge St. bike loop. 16 miles of hills, views and wide easements to shake the winter out of those cycling legs. And there’s a cool country store with a great deck on the route too!!
To the best customers ever!
