Stepping Into Spring

April prepares her green traffic light and the world thinks go.”

-Christopher Morley

April usually gets a bad rap- a flyover month to get to the really good stuff like gardening, biking, and getting a full propane tank for the grill!  But April is not without its moments – baseball’s opening day, the Boston Marathon, Easter, Passover, Earth Day, and believe it or not Record Store Day! Locally Sean and Karen Lawson celebrate their annual anniversary brew party (congratulations!), Cabin Fever Follies rolls out another variety show, and crazy (good!) people attempt to ski across ice water. Here’s to tradition of the best kind – events that welcome the warmer weather and bring us together.

When March tiptoed in I thought for sure that our deck would be humming with lunchtime activity and our vestibule would be down. If it’s not down this month, it makes sense to just leave it up. (April fools!)

Here at the Warren Store, it’s a time to sweep, paint, and mop away the last vestiges of winter and find exciting new products to introduce to you!

We’ve already started to roll them out: the #6 croissant on Sunday.  A breakfast version of our iconic sandwich.

We’re carrying Runamok maple syrup, a collective of Vermont organic farmers creating these amazing flavor-infused maple syrups. I know – don’t mess with my maple syrup. I’m one of those who likes my syrup straight up but these wild and not so wild ingredients (hibiscus, lime leaf, vanilla bean and cinnamon, Bourbon barrel from Mad River Distillery, to mention a few) are so versatile for cooking, desserts, creative cocktails, and good ol’ pancakes.  A Vermont classic with a twist.

April is always the month to revisit all those healthy new year’s resolutions that you broke!

Apis honey kombucha from Golden Well Farms and Apiary in New Haven, Vermont is creating a cutting edge health tonic and it just arrived! The range of health benefits from this kombucha is amazing and it’s the best tasting kombucha I’ve ever had.

And you can celebrate getting back into your après health regimen with Fitvine wines! These new California wines have less calories, sulfites, and no additives or residual sugar and make absolutely no compromise on flavor. The winemakers extract the juice for longer periods to impart excellent varietal character with their Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. If you have an insatiable thirst for life these two beverages have you covered!

April is the promise that May is bound to keep.

This month’s “right under our noses” feature is the Harwood musical Big Fish. Year after year after year Harwood showcases the incredible talents of their students in the spring musical and this show will surely be no exception. Big Fish show times are Thursday, April 6th and Friday, April 7th at 7:30pm and Saturday, April 8th at 1:30pm and 7:30pm. The students and faculty work extremely hard to put these shows together and they are well worth the price of admission. Break a leg!

The Warren Store extends our condolences to our good friends, Ginny Roth and family on the passing of John Roth.  Mr. 4th of July!  Play that horn! He was a good friend and he will certainly be missed.

The first day of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year.
