Consider this your sign to stock up on a little sugar before your next Mad River Valley adventure. 🍬⛰️ Tucked next to the staircase at The Warren Store, our Sweet Shoppe is packed with nostalgic candy choices that make it nearly impossible to walk away with just one selection. Choose from colorful rock candy, Sour Patch Kids, watermelon gummies and sour belts, or go for gummy lobsters and sharks, uniquely flavored honey sticks, and those chewy European candy laces that are just as fun to eat now as they were when you were a kid. It’s the perfect place to grab a sweet treat for the car, pack a little trail fuel for your Mad River Valley adventures or let the kids pick out something special after exploring Warren and Waitsfield. And yes, adults absolutely deserve a candy bag, too. 🍭 So the real question is: what are you scooping up first?
One of the best ways to spend a summer afternoon in Warren? Lunch at The Warren Store… with a dip in Freeman Brook first. 💦🥪🌿 Tucked just below the store, Freeman Brook runs right alongside our property, with steps leading down from the parking/deck area to a usually tame natural swimming hole where you can wade in, sit by the waterfall and cool off on a hot Vermont day. And once you’ve worked up an appetite, head right back upstairs to The Warren Store, grab lunch and take it out to the deck overlooking the brook. Think stacked sandwiches made with fresh ingredients, homemade bread, wraps and salads, plus grab-and-go favorites from the deli and plenty of local drinks and treats to round it all out. Find a table on the back deck and you can listen to the brook rushing below while you eat. It’s one of those only-in-Vermont combinations: country store, swimming hole and lunch with a view, all in one stop. So next time you’re passing through Warren, don’t just stop in to shop. Grab your swimsuit, head down the steps for a cooldown in Freeman Brook, then come back up hungry. 💦🥪 Have you ever taken a dip behind The Warren Store?

A rare art form is coming to The Warren Store! 👤 Join us June 13 & 14 as master silhouette artist Deborah O’Connor returns to create one-of-a-kind hand-cut portraits. Using nothing more than paper and scissors, Deborah captures a remarkable likeness in under five minutes - no sketches, no tracing, just years of skill and artistry. Long before cameras existed, silhouettes were among the most treasured ways to preserve a person’s likeness. Today, only a handful of artists continue this tradition, making this a truly special opportunity to own a timeless keepsake. Original hand-cut silhouettes are $30, with classic oval frames available starting at $20. Whether displayed individually or as a family collection, they make meaningful gifts and cherished mementos. Reserve your 5-minute sitting in advance at The Warren Store (all ages welcome), or stop by and try your luck as a walk-in if time allows. Trust us - you’ll be amazed by what Deborah can create with a simple pair of scissors. ✂️
One of the best croissants in Vermont… with a view to match 🥐 Find it at the Warren Store - made right on site, of course! Flaky, buttery, and baked just right, it’s the kind of simple perfection that is best paired with fresh mountain air and a scenic spot nearby. Perhaps our deck looking out over the babbling Freeman Brook? Find yours at The Warren Store, then take it to go, whether you’re heading out for a hike, hopping on your bike, or just chasing a quiet moment along the way. Consider this your official fuel for your next Mad River Valley adventure 🌄
We may be a little biased… but is this Vermont’s best grilled cheese? 🧀🥓💫 At The Warren Store, it starts with housemade bread, perfectly toasted and golden, layered with rich, local cheeses that melt just right. Add bacon (you won’t regret it) and apple or keep it classic... either way, it’s comfort food done the Vermont way. Pair it with the sound of the Freeman Brook flowing nearby, a little spring sunshine, and nowhere else to be… and somehow it tastes even better. Simple, local, and exactly what you’re craving this time of year. We hope to see you soon at the Warren Store! 💫⭐️
Warmer (and sunnier!) days are ahead on Freeman Brook 🌿 We may finally be past our third false winter (no promises... it is Vermont, after all), but around here, any day is a good day for a picnic with the right attire! Who’s with us? Grab your favorites from The Warren Store, head out to the deck overlooking the brook, and soak it all in: the sound of the water, a little sunshine, and that welcome feeling of spring returning to the Mad River Valley. Longer days, greener views, and plenty more moments like this are just around the corner. Plan a stop soon as you make your way through our special valley 🌞
